Two-dimensional Bragg grating lasers defined by electron-beam lithography
Two-dimensional Bragg grating 2DBG lasers with two quarter-wave slip line defects have been designed and fabricated by electron-beam lithography and reactive ion etching. Unlike conventional two-dimensional photonic crystal defect lasers, which use a large refractive index perturbation to confine light in a plane, the 2DBG structures described here selectively control the longitudinal and trans...
متن کاملSpatial-Phase-Locked Electron-Beam Lithography
Spatial-Phase-Locked Electron-Beam Lithography (SPLEBL) promises to reduce pattern-placement errors in electron-beam-lithography systems to the nanometer level. Such high precision is essential for a variety of future lithographic applications. SPLEBL is currently the only approach capable of achieving such accuracy. In SPLEBL, a low-level, periodic signal, derived from the interaction of the s...
متن کاملEffect of phase mask alignment on fiber Bragg grating spectra at harmonics of the Bragg wavelength.
Effects of fabrication conditions on the double-peak structure observed in fiber Bragg gratings at harmonics of the Bragg wavelength were investigated, showing that slight variations in the alignment of the phase mask can affect the grating spectra significantly. A single peak occurs only when the incident beam direction is perfectly normal with respect to the fiber.
متن کاملTunable phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating based on femtosecond laser fabricated in-grating bubble.
We present a type of phase-shifted fiber Bragg gratings based on an in-grating bubble fabricated by femtosecond (fs) laser ablation together with a fusion-splicing technique. A microchannel vertically crossing the bubble is drilled by fs laser to allow liquid to flow in or out. By filling different refractive index (RI) liquid into the bubble, the phase-shift peak is found to experience a linea...
متن کاملFiber-Optic Pressure Sensor Based on π-Phase- Shifted Fiber Bragg Grating on Side-Hole Fiber
We present a fiber-optic pressure sensor based on a π-phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating (πFBG) fabricated on a sidehole fiber. Due to the resonance effect of a πFBG, its reflection spectrum features two notches that are dramatically narrower than the linewidth of a regular FBG of similar length. The narrow spectral notches allow high-resolution measurement of their spectral separation, signific...
